Costa Rica Biodiversity

Costa Rica's territory is merely 0.03% of the earth's surface, but it is considered to be a country with more diversity than many other areas in the world. This country is home to about 4% of the species on Earth. The extreme diversity is partially explained by the geography of the country: located between two big continental masses and two oceans and with several mountain ranges. Also, the conservation policies developed during the 1970's have contributed to this invaluable treasure.
This is why you can go from the rainy forest to the sunny beach in a matter of hours, making this country a perfect place for visitor who want to have an experience all in one.

Whether one loves animals such as birds, amphibians, reptiles, mammals or sea life or plants such as orchids, or trees this section gives you a nice overview of what animal and plant categories can be expected in this amazing country.  Due to the fact that a large percentage of the total Costa Rican landmass is protected in one form or the other, any nature lover can explore and experience the amazing wildlife and terrain.

Ideal Climate for Weddings – But with a Twist
While Costa Rica offers stunning weather, it’s important to note that the country experiences its rainy season from May to November, with June through October being the peak. However, don't let that scare you! The rain tends to be more of an afternoon shower, often leaving plenty of sunshine in the mornings and evenings. And with so many venues offering covered spaces, you can still enjoy a gorgeous outdoor wedding without worrying about the weather.

Is it safe to travel to Costa Rica today?

Costa Rica is generally a very safe destination for travelers, including those planning a destination wedding. Like any popular travel spot, it’s important to practice common-sense precautions. While the country boasts a welcoming atmosphere with friendly locals, there are a few basic guidelines to ensure a smooth experience.

For starters, always be mindful of your belongings, especially in crowded tourist areas. Stick to well-known areas, and avoid venturing into unfamiliar or isolated spots after dark. Costa Rica’s roads can be a bit tricky, especially in more rural or mountainous regions, so renting a car with a GPS or hiring a local driver can be a good idea for peace of mind.

While Costa Rica is known for its stunning natural beauty, it’s also home to some active volcanoes and lush rainforests, so make sure to stay informed about the local weather and any potential natural events. However, it's important to note that Costa Rica’s government keeps a close eye on safety in these areas, and any natural events are typically well-monitored.

Overall, Costa Rica is a safe, vibrant, and exciting place to host your destination wedding. As long as you follow basic travel safety tips, you'll be able to enjoy everything this beautiful country has to offer with confidence.
